**Job Overview:

We are looking for flexible and reliable Day-to-Day School Assistants to join our pool of on-call staff in Oxfordshire. This zero-hour contract role is perfect for individuals who are looking for flexible working hours and have a passion for supporting students and school staff. As a School Assistant, you will provide essential support across various functions within the school, including classroom assistance, administrative tasks, and general support duties.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support:

  • Assist teachers with classroom management and lesson preparation.

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by the teacher.

  • Supervise students during break times, lunchtime, and other non-instructional periods.

  • Administrative Assistance:

  • Support the school office with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing student records.

  • Answer phone calls and handle inquiries from parents, students, and visitors.

  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of school communications and notices.

  • General Duties:

  • Help set up and tidy classrooms, halls, and other learning environments.

  • Support with the organization and supervision of school events, trips, and activities.

  • Provide assistance with the maintenance of school resources and supplies.

  • Pupil Welfare:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

  • Administer basic first aid when necessary (training will be provided if required).

  • Report any concerns regarding student welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability:

  • Be available to work on short notice, covering staff absences and providing support where needed.

  • Adapt to different roles and responsibilities depending on the school's needs on any given day.

  • Show willingness to work across various departments and support multiple functions within the school.

**Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or in a school environment is preferred.
  • Basic administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

**Desirable:

  • First aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of school policies and procedures.
