We have 2 new opportunities for some Lead Site Operatives to join our new team. You will be based at our new Recycling & Reuse Site in Edmonton, North London.
The Lead Operative is to ensure the safe & efficient management and operation of the brand new RRC at our EcoPark, standing in for the RRC supervisor as required and assist with leading the team to provide a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities
Compliance
- To assist the RRC Supervisor to ensure the RRC operations are compliant with the respective site Waste Management Permits and conditions and ensure all non-compliance issues are dealt with as per Company practice and legislation. Carrying out daily site inspections and reporting findings to applicable persons.
- To assist RRC Supervisor in ensuring that all issues relating to the Environment Agency including Waste Tonnage returns are dealt with appropriately and recorded as required - this includes maintaining the site diary or end of day report
- To assist with supervision of all RRC staff to ensure safe practices are adhered to at all times. This includes the safety of the public using the facilities.
- To assist RRC Supervisor in the review and update of Health and Safety documentation and practices as required ensuring documents are in date at all times.
- To assist with managing and operating the site in line with contractual obligations and report where operations may impact these obligations.
Business Management
- To assist with leading and supporting the RRC team to consistently achieve a high level of customer service
- To assist the RRC Supervisor and RRC Area Supervisors in managing the operations of the RRC site in order that they operate efficiently.
- To control all areas of site operation in accordance with contractual requirements and take remedial action as appropriate.
- Covering the RRC Supervisor duties as and when required.
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation of all vehicles and mobile plant whilst on site.
Plant and Vehicle Management
- To organise and utilise available vehicles and plant to fulfil the needs of the operation in a cost-effective manner
- To maintain and operate all other company internal electronic systems, including the Winweigh system.
- To ensure that all static and mobile plant is maintained on a regular basis as per manufacturers' guidelines or as company procedure demand requires. This includes monitoring daily operator inspection reporting and defect reporting.
- Complete small/low risk maintenance tasks on plant and equipment on site when possible and where required
People Management
- To assist with leading the team to provide a positive customer experience by educating customers correct segregation of materials
- To ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained and team understand their rota week on week including standby weeks
- To ensure all staff operate in a safe and effective manner including identifying and implementing training requirements.
- To deliver Toolbox talks/ H&S stand-downs to RRC teams and manage teams LMS training ensuring it is completed on time and operatives are supported where needed.
- To require all employees and visitors to comply with Company policy and procedures
- To resolve any employee relations issues at the earliest opportunity and provide motivation and leadership to all site personnel.
- To supervise all sub-contractor activities on site ensuring site rules and pre-approved RAMS are being followed at all times
- To deal courteously with all members of the public in relation to site activities.
General
- To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required at the same or other Company sites.
- Assisting with and carrying out the appropriate duties for the control and implementing of site cleaning to ensure the effective and safe operation of the site.
Requirements
- Previous experience of working in a Waste Operations environment
- Strong interpersonal skills particularly in dealing with the public
- Flexible in relation to working at different RRC sites as necessary and in accordance with the required working hours and rota
- Working towards the required competency certificate for operating mobile plant or be willing to train to do so.
- First Aid trained or working towards this qualification.
Preferable
- Strong people management skills
- Previous supervisory experience
- Be a competent user of Microsoft
- Current driving licence and willing to drive the company reuse van if required
