The role:

My client is embarking on a large-scale global HR and payroll transformation project. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SOX and Controls Lead to oversee and manage the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, business controls, IT controls, roles and access, and reporting throughout this transformation. This project role is critical to ensuring the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of our HR and payroll systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of SOX control frameworks for HR and payroll, including, application General IT Controls (GITCs)
  • Lead to testing, remediation, documentation and training for HR and payroll SOX controls
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and maintain sufficient evidence from build and test stages to ensure successful completion of SOX assurance activities for pre-go-live stage gates.
  • Generate Risk and Control Matrix (RACM)s that identify risks and key controls within HR and payroll processes.
  • Evaluate impact on downstream processes and systems and identify SOX control impacts in downstream systems and work with controls team and other system owners to ensure controls in other systems will still meet SOX needs.
  • Generate RACMs that identify key business risks and design document robust business controls to manage the identified risks.
  • Collaborate with business and cross-functional teams to ensure business controls meet key regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into the effectiveness of controls and processes.
  • Lead the testing, remediation documentation and training of control activities business processes controls.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of IT controls related to HR and payroll systems.
  • Work closely with IT teams ensure IT controls meet baseline security requirements and Group security standards.
  • Develop controls and procedures to support access reviews to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Lead the testing, remediation documentation and training of control activities for IT and Security controls.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in leading the SOX and controls workstream in a similar scale HR and payroll transformation programme.
  • Experience working with SAP SuccessFactors and ECP payroll is highly desired.
  • Extensive experience working within the complexities of highly regulated and unionized environments, particularly in the UK and US
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • In-depth understanding of HR processes and the ability to translate business requirements into effective system solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
