Job Title: Youth Support and Development Worker

The Role
Youth Support and Development Workers are responsible for providing high quality effective and responsive early help and prevention services; encompassing programmes of youth work and targeted interventions that result in tangible improvements to young people's well-being. A professional or occupational qualification (e.g. youth work, teaching, social work, or health) is desirable, and applicants should have a clear understanding of evidence based practice, youth work methodology and effective practice in youth participation and children's rights. Your communication skills, energy and professional approach will enable you to quickly establish positive rapport with young people and stakeholders. With experience in the delivery of tailored interventions, targeted group work and youth work, you will be committed to improving young people's well-being and addressing concerns such as crime, educational engagement or sexually harmful behaviour.
The Candidate
- Knowledge of the relevant legislation, policy and guidance relating to Children and Young People's Services.
- Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies working with young people, including their statutory responsibilities.
- Understanding of child and adolescent development, and the importance of peer influence, family and environmental factors upon their personal growth and transition to adulthood
- Able to demonstrate a track record in the delivery of high quality customer focused services.
