Service Technician

My client in Plymouth is looking for a Service Technician to join their busy team. The Service Technician is a member of the Aftersales Team and will report to the Service Manager. The Service Technician will carry out a variety of workshop work in an efficient and safe manner. The aim is to meet customer requirements and maximise workshop utilisation and productivity.

My client is a large, family run, automotive group based in the South and South-West of England. Responsibilities

  • Carries out vehicle services and repairs in accordance with brand technical standards.
  • Works in accordance with brand and dealership processes.
  • Liaises directly with customers where appropriate.
  • Provides support to less experienced colleagues.
  • Attends regular training to update technical skills.
  • Works as a full member of the workshop and dealership teams.
  • It is the responsibility of the technician to ensure that their immediate working environment is kept clean and devoid of any working practice which may be hazardous to either themselves or others.
  • Protective clothing and equipment supplied by the Company will be worn or used as and when appropriate.
  • Handling of waste products and hazardous materials must be carried out as per company policies and C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
  • LCV Technicians may also be asked from time to time to carry out other tasks not outlined above. Such tasks shall be reasonable and commensurate with the ability of the employee.

Essential & Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

Fluent written and spoken English. PC, Microsoft, web literate. Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Proven track record of individual excellence
  • Previous vehicle knowledge and proven skills
  • MOT qualification Relevant City & Guilds,
  • BTEC or NVQ accreditation
  • Previous work experience in a franchise dealership
  • Highly skilled in fault diagnosis and hold the relevant MOT Tester qualification.
  • Commitment to delivering first class customer service.
