Job Description: I am seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our elderly care team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with older adults and a commitment to delivering exceptional care. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our residents through personal care, emotional support, and daily assistance. You will also be required to assist service users with dementia care needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Daily Living Support: Help residents with mobility, meal preparation, feeding, and medication management.
  • Companionship: Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering positive relationships with residents.
  • Health Monitoring: Monitor residents health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the health care team.
  • Activities and Engagement: Encourage and facilitate participation in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Household Tasks: Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided and report on residents progress and needs.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of residents, ensuring they receive respectful and dignified care.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working in elderly care or a related support role is a must.
  • Education: A relevant qualification in health care, social care, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by elderly individuals, including those with dementia or other health conditions.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
