ARC Short Break Worker

About the team

Our Residential Short Breaks Team is part of ARC Services established in 2009 and we are looking for friendly and passionate people to join us.

We support young people who have experienced childhood trauma, and we work with them and their families to help stop young people entering the care system.

We offer Short Stays to young people as a supportive intervention allowing families some space to reflect and recharge.

Our support is carried out both in our residential short breaks home based in Welwyn Garden City and in the family homes across county.

You will be part of a team of professionals (including an education adviser and therapists) putting in place intensive care packages to help young people who have complicated needs, helping them to build secure attachments and become self-reliant.

About the role

As a Short Breaks Worker in the team, you will provide support and guidance to young people and their families.

You will be supported to develop your professional knowledge and skills through supervision, training and other development opportunities in areas relevant to the work of the ARC, specifically in working with complex trauma.

This role requires working shifts including, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping in overnight. Shift Hours are 14:00 to 23:00, sleep in, then 07:30 to 15:00 for which you will receive a 6% MUSHA payment.

About you

Essential:

  • This role requires good communication skills with young people and adults, with a creative passion to help.
  • It is essential that you can use full range of Microsoft Office / and other applications.
  • A full UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work shifts inc weekends / bank holidays and sleep ins.

Desirable:

  • A NVQ Level 4 in Residential Care Qualification is desirable however if you don't have this we will fund and support you getting this. You will attend your taught college days during your working time to assist your studies.
