Network Engineer

Role: IT Network Lead / Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Location: St. Helens, WA9

I am currently recruiting for a global business based in St Helens, who are looking for a Network Engineer / Specialist / Network Lead to join the team on a permanent basis and take control of the full IT Network.

You will take full ownership of the IT Network function with lots of progression and career development with lots to offer to the right person.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Issue Resolution and Service Requests: Triage issues and handle service requests via phone and email to ensure lasting solutions.
• Networking and Security Projects: Support the leadership of networking and security initiatives.
• Office 365 Administration: Oversee the administration of the Office 365 environment.
• VoIP Management: Manage the VoIP platform efficiently.
• Technical Team Development: Assist in supervising and developing the technical team.
• IT Department Operations: Help supervise daily operations of the IT department, ensuring smooth execution of ongoing projects.
• Infrastructure Management: Aid in managing servers and network infrastructure, ensuring the integrity of the IT estate.
• Project Collaboration: Work with project teams to ensure successful delivery of IT projects, utilizing project management skills.
• IT Consultation: Act as a consultant to management, offering expert advice and guidance on IT-related matters.
• Knowledge Base Contributions: Contribute to creating knowledge base articles to enhance the skills of the Technical Support team.
• Incident and Service Request Follow-up: Respond to inquiries about the status of incident/service request tickets and perform necessary follow-ups.
• Documentation and User Guides: Help create, facilitate, and maintain documentation, knowledge articles, and user guides.
• Travel Requirements: Be willing to travel between several sites as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

• Customer Service and Management: Excellent customer service skills, along with strong stakeholder and third-party management abilities.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Proficient troubleshooting skills and a technical mindset.
• Networking Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of networking and network principles.
• VLANs and Trunks: Solid understanding of VLANs and trunking.
• Router/Switch/Firewall Experience: Practical experience in troubleshooting and configuring routers, switches, and firewalls.
• L3 Routing Protocols: Hands-on experience and a solid understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols.
• Network Documentation: Ability to contribute to the creation and updating of network diagrams and documentation for designing and planning network communication systems.
• Microsoft Technologies: Knowledge of Microsoft Server and Desktop technologies.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Excellent all-around troubleshooting, fault-finding, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Network Issue Resolution: Extensive experience in troubleshooting network issues.
• Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products.
• Commercial Awareness: Good level of commercial awareness.
• Server and Networking: Strong knowledge of server operating systems, DHCP setup, and DNS setup.
• Driver's License: Full UK driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
