We have a fantastic opportunity for an Associate Technical Director to join our team within Vistry South London, at our office in Stratford. As our Associate Technical Director, you will be able to demonstrate a practical, thorough, pro-active, and efficient approach to design development and management. Managing and working within a team from the inception of a project through the technical design (including Gateway approvals where necessary) through to completion, handover, and occupation.

Candidates will have a strong track record of managing technical/design managers working on mixed use multi-occupancy buildings on brownfield sites, they will possess the commercial/contractual awareness to inform and develop design proposals to maximise design efficiency and profitability within the project constraints. The technical team work collaboratively to deliver considered and buildable design solutions, within agreed programme constraints to our project teams, in conjunction with the project design consultants and specialist supply chain partners.

  • A wealth of experience working in a senior Technical (or similar) role in the residential sector

  • Experience of PLC policies and procedures relating to BMS / Quality / Employment

  • Focus on the importance of achievement of design and technical and pre-construction programme on business success

  • A strong leader with a proven track record of successfully managing teams' workings on large scale regeneration projects with multiple constraints ranging from £30m-£250m

  • Excellent technical knowledge of construction techniques, Building Regulations, The Building Safety Act and The London Plan

  • Sufficiently competent in the use of IT to ensure processes, programmes and customer care initiatives are effectively followed

  • A team player with the personality and intellect to make an effective contribution to the success and development of the business, as a member of the business unit SMT

  • Preparation of technical reports to assist with the viability of land appraisals.

  • Preparation of tender reports, fee budgets and identification of risk for Contracting opportunities.

  • Timely collation and execution of consultant appointment documents.

  • Establishing and managing the project fee budget.

  • Managing all design/technical aspects of multiple projects at different stages in their life cycle.

  • Ensure the design is delivered to programme, from planning application through to project completion including Gateways submissions/approvals for HRB's.

  • Agreeing and communicating the project design brief and production of the design in accordance with the brief.

  • Timely registration with warranty providers i.e. NHBC and close out of associated conditions.

  • To ensure timely completion and issue of technical assessments, Energy & Sustainability information, warranties, certificates and the like.

  • Ensure consultants prepare detailed design in accordance with project requirements (Budget, Specifications, Development Agreements, Employers Requirement and Contractors Proposals)

  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of third-party requirements and the associated approval process.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and to work collaboratively with Clients and stakeholders.

  • Well, organised with a good working knowledge of Viewpoint and BIM.

  • Identification and management of project risks.

  • Manage CDM including the preparation, approval and distribution of the Health and Safety File/Operating and Maintenance Manuals.

  • An understanding of the Highways Act, Traffic Orders and the various Sectional Agreements, Water Industry Act etc. Understanding of S38, 104 & 278 processes.

  • Provide fully checked and co-ordinated design packages for Budget, Tender and Construction purposes.

  • To implement and comply with Vistry's SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice within the business unit and areas.

  • To implement and ensure compliance with, and support the development of, Vistry's policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Ensure all schemes are designed and pre-construction plans are in place to meet all necessary health and safety requirements.

  • Maintain the health and safety standards of the business and the group – drive continuous improvement.

  • Deputise for the BU Technical Director.

  • Member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).

  • Produce board reports and papers as required.

  • Attend key meetings with clients and Joint Venture partners.

  • Work on business initiatives as required including representing the business at group forums.

  • Support business growth including the nurturing and development of technical team.
