Job Title: Assistant SENDCo

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS (Inner London) +TLR

Start Date: September 2024 or as soon as possible

MLK Education Search are working with a highly reputable Trust to recruit a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Assistant SENDCO within their Secondary and 6th Form Academy in Bromley.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, forward-thinking, and solution-oriented individual who can teach across the full age and ability range, whilst upholding the highest standards of pupil achievement and personal development.

You will contribute to the strategic development of SEND provision and collaborate enthusiastically with the SEND team in school, and across the wider Trust. This post would suit an experienced subject leader or teacher seeking their first curriculum leadership position.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (or equivalent teaching qualification)
  • Good honours degree in a relevant discipline
  • Preferably a qualification or successful experience with special education, particularly ASD
  • Lead and implement ASD teaching across the whole school
  • Successful teaching experience in the area of SEN and ASD
  • Experience of and ability to lead on high quality pupil tracking and feedback practices, and designing meaningful interventions
  • Able to delegate responsibility with accountability
  • Able to liaise successfully with outside agencies and parents

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop all aspects of SEND, deputising for the SENDCo where necessary.
  • Provide leadership and direction to department members and play a key role in appraisals.
  • Identify children for whom EHCPs may be necessary.
  • Provide accurate self-evaluation related to pupil outcomes.
  • Lead SEND support in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Monitor and track student progress and ensure tailored provision for individual student needs.
  • Support curriculum leaders in teaching strategies and intervention.
  • Assist in provision mapping for the Inclusion department.
  • Keep parents informed of SEND student progress.
