About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, or Havant.

Salary: £41,600 - £60,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Joining SSE as a Learning Content Design Manager offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of Learning Designers in creating innovative and impactful learning experiences that drive both individual and organisational growth. You'll oversee the design of learner-centred, high-quality training using tools like Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Creative Suite, while shaping the digital learning strategy that supports SSE's commitment to sustainability and net-zero goals. The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading and inspiring a team of Learning Designers to deliver high-quality, blended learning solutions through strong collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Ensuring resource allocation and workload distribution align with business priorities, and fostering a creative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Overseeing the design of engaging, impactful learning experiences by applying instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and multimedia elements. Conducting thorough needs assessments to tailor learning solutions that are learner-centred, accessible, and suited to a diverse audience.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of learning projects, ensuring all quality standards are met at each milestone. Conducting routine checks to ensure processes are followed, timelines are respected, and learning initiatives align with strategic goals and budget requirements.
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement. Aligning learning initiatives with broader business strategies, contributing to digital learning advancements and supporting sustainability and value creation goals.
  • Developing and maintain robust processes for managing the Learning Catalogue, including content from external providers. Collaborating with quality management teams to ensure systems effectively support the organisation's learning objectives.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:

  • Expertise in eLearning tools, video software, and Adobe Creative Suite, with skills in Articulate Storyline 360, Vyond, Premiere Pro, and Oracle LMS. You'll also enhance SSE's technology capability by bringing good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Power Automate.
  • Experience of leading teams, managing workloads, and meeting deadlines. You'll bring excellent prioritisation tasks, setting agile goals, and fostering a strong customer-service focus.
  • Proficiency in using learning tools and methodologies, including the 70:20:10 model. You'll be capable of coaching and supporting your team to ensure delivery of high-quality, consistent learning materials.
  • An understanding of project management principles, including quality reviews, stage-gates, and client sign-offs, specifically in the learning design process.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences, building trust and confidence at all levels within and outside the organisation.
