Groundworker/Landscaper

Leicestershire County Council is currently seeking experienced Groundworkers/Landscapers to undertake a variety of groundwork and landscaping jobs across Leicestershire. This temporary ongoing role offers a great opportunity for skilled individuals to apply their trade experience in a dynamic outdoor setting.
Day to Day of the role:
- Install external hard construction works including fencing, tarmac laying, kerbs, edgings, drainage, and maintenance of children's play equipment.
- Assist with soft ground works such as landscaping, planting, tidying, and garden maintenance.
- Operate large plant machinery (360 Digger, Dumper, Rollers) and small hand-held equipment safely and efficiently.
- Drive works vehicles and carry out vehicle and plant safety checks.
- Respond to emergency situations, assisting with works such as flood control and snow clearing.
- Work in various external environments with the provision of suitable PPE.
- Cover for Senior Tradesperson and Supported Employee Team Leaders in their absence, dealing with and assisting customers.
- Undertake site visits to support the production of estimates.
- Arrange for the collection of materials and supplies from depots and merchants.
- Lift materials and equipment safely, adhering to LCC manual handling policy.
- Support and mentor team apprentices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in groundwork and landscaping.
- Certified training for operating large plant machinery.
- Ability to drive works vehicles with a valid UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and adherence to health & safety regulations.
- Good communication skills and customer service when dealing with the public.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours.
Must hold a clean drivers licence.
