Academics is currently recruiting for a Behaviour Buddy to work within a primary school in Heathfield. As a Behaviour Buddy, you will be supporting children in a teaching assistant role, primarily focusing on promoting positive behaviour and helping students overcome any challenges they may face in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, focusing on behaviour management and emotional support.
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
- Foster positive relationships with students, helping to promote self-regulation and build confidence.
- Support children with special educational needs, working with teachers and other staff to implement tailored support strategies.
- Maintain a calm and structured learning environment, offering guidance and support to students with challenging behaviour.
- Monitor student progress and report to teaching staff, contributing to individual development plans where necessary.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in a similar role, particularly working with children with behavioural needs, is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
- A commitment to supporting students in their academic, emotional, and social development.
- Experience or an understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- A proactive, team-focused attitude, with a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
