Primary SEN Cover Teacher -PPA

Location: Lewisham

Contract Type: Monday-Friday (Full-Time - 8:30am-3:30pm) - Term Time Only

Reports to: SEN Teacher

Start Date: September 2024

Are you a dedicated and flexible teacher with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Are you seeking a role where you can make a difference while enjoying variety in your day-to-day work? We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Teacher join a primary special school in Lewisham.

You will be teaching children in a primary special school. The children have a range of SEN, PMLD, medical needs, physical disabilities, and challenging behaviours. You will be adaptable and will be able to deliver engaging and creative lessons for the children in line with their Educational Health Care Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cover for primary classes when teachers require Planning, Preparation, and Assessment (PPA) time, ensuring a seamless continuation of learning for students with SEN.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across various classes, adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and encouraged to succeed.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and support staff to maintain continuity in student's learning and development.
  • Effectively manage classroom behaviour and always ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Provide feedback to class teachers regarding student progress and any additional support required.

Requirements:

  • Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Status is required as a minimum with experience working with primary-aged students with SEN.
  • Proven ability to deliver and plan high-quality teaching and learning experiences in a primary setting.
  • Understanding of different special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
  • Strong understanding of Education Health Care Plans.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across various classes and year groups as needed.
  • Safeguarding training is essential, although this can be offered by Remedy.
  • Level 2 Team Teach training is essential, although this can be offered by Remedy.
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
