Part-Time Bookkeeper for a Charitable Organization

Warwick - 12 hours per week

£18 per hour

We are working with a lovely and prominent charity that plays a vital role in the community. Located in a historic venue open to visitors and hosted events throughout the year they are seeking a dedicated and skilled Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day bookkeeping tasks.

This part-time position requires 12 hours per week and offers the flexibility to work from home, although regular visits to the office will be necessary for collecting paperwork and attending meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regular input of all accounting data into Sage Line 50.
  • Weekly bank reconciliation of multiple bank accounts.
  • Raising invoices for events, services, and other recharges.
  • Processing supplier invoices.
  • Setting up bank payments for authorisation.
  • Managing debt collection as needed.
  • Overseeing Gift Aid records, including inputting donations and submitting monthly returns to HMRC using Fundfiler.
  • Submitting claims for VAT recovery on specific items through the listed places of worship scheme.
  • Posting monthly journals for payroll and music account transactions, and quarterly posting of accruals and prepayments.
  • Reconciling control accounts and transferring cash between bank accounts to maintain correct fund balances.
  • Handling various financial returns and information related to the organization.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Note: Payroll is outsourced and managed by the Operations Manager.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Sage Line 50 (experience with charity fund accounting is desirable).
  • Ability to work independently and proactively manage workload.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Competence in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with others.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise reports and data.
  • Flexibility to meet the job's requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in charity and fund accounting.
  • AAT or equivalent qualification is desirable.
