We are seeking a Production Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing processes to join our team. The role is crucial in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and quality of our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.

Day to Day of the Production Engineer role:

  • Collaborate with the Production Management team to define and resource manufacturing processes with appropriate work instructions, tooling, jigs, and assembly aids.
  • Engage in part routing, costing (labour), creating work instructions, and designing production tooling and jigs.
  • Program and maintain machinery, solve problems, and improve processes.
  • Work closely with the development team on new product development and introduction.
  • Generate build reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Production department to manufacture products on time, right first time, and at the lowest practical cost.
  • Maintain plant and resources to support the Production plan and increase longevity.
  • Foster a safe and productive environment for all staff.
  • Adopt and promote lean philosophies and continuous improvement in the production engineering department.
  • Provide technical support, advice, and assistance to the site Facilities Manager.
  • Coach and mentor technical apprentices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of production engineering experience in a low to medium volume, high mix, fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience in companies where lean philosophy is practiced.
  • Experience in electronics and/or electro-mechanical assembly environments is ideal.
  • Degree/HNC/HND in engineering or science-related discipline preferred.
  • Proficient in problem-solving techniques such as 8D, PFMEA.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Computer literacy, especially in Excel.
  • CNC experience is preferred.
  • Programming and CAD experience are advantageous.
