We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Occupational Therapist to join our fantastic Transition team. The team are vibrant, hard working and passionate in their roles of supporting and enabling?young adults to thrive through their transition into adulthood. ?

The team are based in Reigate (Woodhatch Place) and Woking (Quadrant Court) - although our Woking office will be moving to the modern and centrally located Victoria Gate building later this year. We are an agile team asking staff to base themselves from the office 2 days a week or 1 day a week if part time and support a variety of flexible working arrangements.

About the role??
As a result of promotion, we have a senior occupational therapist vacancy within our growing Transition Occupational Therapy team.

As a senior occupational therapist in Transition you will be visiting young people aged 18-25 and their families in their own homes, supported living accommodation, care homes and education settings including colleges and universities. Travel is required across the entire county, access to a car is essential. You will carry out occupation focused and Care Act compliant assessments, provide advice and equipment to support complex moving and handling routines, and make recommendations for major adaptations when necessary. The interventions you will carry out contribute to our mission to support young people with disabilities and their carers to thrive, find inclusion in their local communities and remove barriers to ensure no one is left behind.

Our therapists are proud to be evidence based practitioners who are critical consumers of clinical research and who actively contribute to building the evidence base.

As a senior in the team you will also have responsibility to provide formal supervision and informal guidance to more junior members of the team including occupational therapy students and apprentices.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience of working within a social care, education, health or community focused multidisciplinary setting
  • Experience in supervising qualified and non-qualified team members
  • Ability to complete person centred and proportionate OT assessments with children or adults with complex disability including learning or physical disabilities or Autism
  • Experience completing moving and handling risk assessments and plans
  • Ability to assess and make recommendations for major adaptations
  • Knowledge of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act, and their application to practice in a social care setting
