About the Role:
We are seekingdedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to provide 1:1 support for achild with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who will be joining our client, amainstream school, on a reduced timetable. This role is crucial in ensuring thechild's successful integration and providing the necessary support as outlinedin their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to a child with ASD during morning sessions.
- Assist the child in engaging with educational activities and managing transitions.
- Monitor and support the child's safety, ensuring they do not access unsafe areas or items.
- Help the child with self-care tasks
- Implement strategies to manage the child's impulsive behaviours and sensory needs.
- Work closely with the school's SENCO and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner.
- Commitment to providing consistent and reliable support.
- Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or referenceable experience within the last two years.
