We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Finance Manager an Academy Trust. This role is integral to the finance function, providing essential support to ensure the effective operation of financial systems and procedures. The successful candidate will assist with budget setting, payroll processes, financial compliance, and contribute to strategic financial planning.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide high-quality financial advice and guidance to headteachers, budget holders, and leadership teams.
- Assist with preparing financial forecasts, business plans, reports, and returns in line with DfE/EFSA requirements.
- Update, monitor, and maintain financial procedures
- Support the Chief Finance Officer/Head of Finance in financial oversight, including budget monitoring and management reporting.
- Ensure the finance software system reflects the latest accurate financial position, with timely month-end close and management reports.
- Detect early signs of overspend, deficit, or cash flow concerns and report immediately to the relevant parties.
- Regularly monitor and reconcile Trust Bank Accounts and other nominal accounts, ensuring transactions are relevant and accurate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a finance support role within an educational or similar setting.
- Knowledge of financial regulations, public procurement regulations, and the Academies Financial Handbook.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of providing clear financial advice.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
