New Business Development Manager, Scotland

ew Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities within the financial services sector across Scotland. This role involves managing existing relationships, developing new partnerships (65% of your time), and contributing significantly to the overall growth strategy of the organisation. The BDM will work closely with various internal teams (e.g., sales, marketing, product development) to ensure client satisfaction and achieve revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across a wide range of sectors and markets (including engineering, manufacturing, business services, construction and software)
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate clients, institutional investors, and other financial institutions.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement new business development plans to meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs.
  • Proposal Writing & Presentations: Prepare detailed proposals, conduct presentations, and deliver compelling pitches to clients and partners.
  • Networking & Partnerships: Attend industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to build brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Collaboration: Work with marketing, operations, and product teams to align business development initiatives with broader company goals.
  • Reporting/Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and produce regular reports on business performance, sales pipeline, and market feedback.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all business development activities comply with industry regulations and internal policies.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in business development, sales, or relationship management within the financial services industry.
  • Financial Expertise: working knowledge of financial products (e.g., investment, banking, insurance) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Sales & Negotiation: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, with strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess client needs and propose tailored solutions.

What's on offer:

A highly competitive basic salary of**£45,000 -£55,000**(depending on experience) plus uncapped bonus earning potential is on offer. Car allowance and various other benefits including pension and private medical is also available.
