Our Team

The Operational Risk Management Team within Virgin Money is working to change the way we manage risk, making us future-fit and digitally enabled. The team covers a broad range of risk topics: Operational Risk, Digital & Technology Risk, Data Risk, Change Risk, People Risk, Payments Risk, Third Party Risk and Resilience.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering an effective end-to-end process for calculating Operational Risk capital, through stress testing, scenario analysis and modelling activities, collaborating across the 3rd Line of Defence.
  • Facilitating bank-wide scenario analysis with SMEs from across the bank, to drive a robust assessment with 2nd Line of Defence challenge, driving 1st Line Of Defence accountability for management remediation.
  • Ongoing engagement with Senior Management and key stakeholders within Finance, providing advice and oversight (challenge) in management and governance meetings.
  • Conducting regular horizon scanning to proactively identify, assess and monitor emerging risks and new or changing. regulation/industry best practices and technical developments, that influence Non-Financial Risk related frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Producing Operational Risk capital, regulatory and emerging risk insights and reporting accurately, to a high standard and in a timely manner, for internal and external purposes.
  • Leading a variety of assurance activities and independent testing to support monitoring and review of the bank's risk management and internal control framework.
  • Providing training, awareness, guidance, and support on Operational Risk practices.

We need you to have

  • Significant experience in Financial Services working in a related Risk and/or Finance role.
  • A proactive and inquisitive mindset, and ability to confidently and independently communicate, facilitate and influence at a senior level
  • An eye for detail, with proven capability to manage and analyse large quantities of complex data and communicate technical and regulatory matters in a non-technical manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in designing reports for a variety of stakeholders, ensuring key messages are presented appropriately for the audience
  • Experience of designing and testing controls, both manual and automated.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to find new ways of doing things, with the ability to bring pragmatic solutions into use and confidence to challenge others to think differently.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

  • A relevant degree/professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in a management consulting/accounting firm.
  • Knowledge of Operational Risk related regulations and capital regulations as they relate to Operational Risk.
