Volunteer Coordinator - Senior DA Practitioner

As a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you'll work across Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Moorlands to lead a team of volunteers delivering group programmes to women who have experienced domestic abuse. You'll lead on supervision, training and volunteer recruitment, playing a key part in the ongoing growth, development and sustainability of the service.

Job requirements

  • Work in partnership with the Service Manager to design and develop all group work activities to meet customer need.
  • Work in partnership with the Service Manager to make sure customers accessing the service receive a professional and coordinated response, with up to date, relevant advice and information.
  • Lead on all aspects of the recruitment, training, development and delivery of the volunteer programme. Lead on the induction of volunteers in line with our clients recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Lead on all aspects of the day-to-day administration and supervision of volunteers.
  • Co-deliver group programmes to customers when necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns, demonstrating an understanding of safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Make sure referrals are appropriate or signposted to more suitable services. Make sure the right level of information is provided, that possible risks have been identified, assessed and effective risk management strategies have been put in place.
  • Actively encourage customer involvement and participation in the planning, delivery and evaluation of group programmes.

What they're're looking for

  • A driver with a full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle.
  • A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.
  • Experience of recruiting, training, managing or mentoring staff or volunteers.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management and an understanding of the complexities surrounding domestic abuse and safeguarding.
  • Good ICT skills and familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Experience of delivering training or group work.
  • Someone who can work flexibly from home and across various locations across Staffordshire.
  • DBS check every three years.
