Job Overview:

The National Accounts Manager is responsible for managing and growing strategic relationships with key national accounts. This role will focus on driving sales, increasing market share, and ensuring exceptional customer service across a portfolio of large, high-value clients. The National Accounts Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales support, supply chain and operations, to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs and business goals.

The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of sales strategies, and the ability to manage complex account portfolios across multiple markets. Experience in an SME environment and advanced Excel skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key national clients, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute tailored sales strategies to meet the revenue and growth targets for national accounts.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities to expand business within existing accounts and secure new national clients to grow the portfolio.
  • Negotiation: Lead negotiations for major contracts, pricing agreements, and service levels to maximise profitability and align with company objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market and competitor analysis to stay informed of industry trends and provide insights into account planning.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams (sales support, supply chain and operations) to deliver solutions and address customer needs.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Client Retention: Develop strategies to ensure client retention and minimise churn by understanding the client's business needs and aligning with their long-term goals.
  • Problem Solving: Address any issues or challenges faced by clients and resolve them promptly to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Travel: Travel to meet clients and attend industry events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales, account management, or business development, preferably managing national or key accounts.

  • Proven Success: Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing key accounts.

  • Skills:

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a customer-centric mindset.

  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
