Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Zest Education is now looking for a dedicated teaching assistant to join a welcoming school in Edgbaston. You will be expected to work three days a week, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, assisting in a Year 2 class. As a teaching assistant at this school, you must be able to motivate the students in everything they do and support the class teacher in delivering an engaging curriculum.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher and prepare resources for learning activities and assist students in their use.
  • Uphold policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and behaviour management/pupil conduct.
  • Develop solid relationships with students, teacher, and parents to provide feedback on the development and accomplishment of the students.
  • Motivate students to participate in activities and engage with the class as well as promoting their competence and independence.
  • Establish a calm, encouraging and positive learning environment in the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Experience in an educational setting or working with children is highly desirable.
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with students, parents, professionals/colleagues.
  • Basic understanding of the national curriculum.
  • Possess a high degree of teamwork proficiency and the ability to collaborate with others as well as work independently.
  • High standard of numeracy/literacy skills.
  • Have a genuine desire in helping children achieve academic success.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
