Location: Beverley, East Yorkshire

Salary: Up to £38,000

Role: Permanent

My client, an award winning, multi-million-pound turnover business with sites across the UK, are looking for an experienced Transport Planner, Fleet Scheduler or Transport Manager to join their successful fleet services team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their established team where you will lead, manage, motivate, and engage the team to ensure adherence to external standards, company policy and bulk fleet operating procedures.

The successful candidate will have a passion for service with an ability to work under pressure to achieve results. They will also actively promote collaboration within all sections of the business, delivering a ‘one team' approach.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Excellent working knowledge of transport legislation (WTF/Drivers hours ect)
  • Understanding of bulk transport business model – workflows, profitability, and purpose.
  • Able to manage, motivate and engage team members to deliver the desired results and behaviours for the business
  • Ability to work on own initiative, make decisions and manage own workload.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Evidence of ability to develop effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail and experience working to tight deadlines.
  • Good time management with effective prioritisation of tasks/work
  • Have a collaborative way of working to always deliver the best outcome possible working with other departments.

Transport Planner Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet management: You will be responsible for the income, driver performance, the staff and vehicles for your location
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to & promote health & safety 1st to all team members.
  • Legislation: Stay abreast of regulations and transport laws, ensuring compliance
  • Team Leadership:
  • Ensure all team members are aligned with the company values.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of ‘one team' through strong engagement with staff and drivers
  • Work in collaboration with the forwarding team, supporting as required to ensure excellent service level expectations.
  • Recruitment and Management:
  • Manage driver performance, conduct 1-2-1's and personal development meetings
  • Manage recruitment and replacement and recruitment of drivers.
  • Manage the scheduling team to ensure effective role/task allocation with clear responsibilities and effective delegation.
  • Maintenance:
  • Maintain profitability of vehicles in line with company expectations.
  • Maintain accurate driver records to allow accurate reporting.
