Working in the public sector you will be required to act as Corporate Health and Safety Officer ensuring compliance and the enforcement of Health and Safety legislation.
Duties:
- To develop, implement and review H&S policies and procedures
- To audit projects and building works to ensure compliance
- To work with department managers to develop and review policy documents and develop Safe Operating Procedures
- To carry out H&S inspections and take any necessary enforcement action
- Conduct random spot inspections for PPE compliance and operating procedures
- To investigate accidents and near misses
- To provide H&S training to employees
- To carry out fire risk assessments, fire drills and terrorism evacuation procedures
Criteria:
- A relevant Environmental Health related qualification
- Demonstrable knowledge, experience and expertise in relation to relevant H&S legislation and best practise.
- Relevant experience in H&S Enforcement and Corporate H&S.
- Demonstrable technical and specialist knowledge.

- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to adapt and proactively organise and prioritise work effectively
This is a 6-month temp role to start asap offering 37 hours per week. There could possibly be the option of a permanent contract in the future.
