Our Team:

Our Fixed Income Corporate Actions Data team looks after the lifecycle of corporate securities focusing on transaction level data and their impact on reference data and bond calculations. Corporate Actions can have significant implications for bondholders and often impact across the wider market, making timely and accurate interpretation and capture of corporate actions data key to meet client needs. With the increased adoption of new technologies and industry standards, there is a growing need for automation and standardization of corporate actions, uncovering an opportunity for technical innovation for our team.

What's the role?

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring the seamless flow of data from various sources to our databases. You will collaborate closely with engineering, domain experts, and other partners to understand data requirements, develop pipelines, and optimize data workflows for efficient data processing. In addition to that, you will build business intelligence tools to analyze our data, derive insights and trends. We are looking for highly motivated tech leaders who are innovative and resourceful, able to collaborate with different partners, and mentor junior members of the group who are looking to develop technically. The ideal candidate should have strong background in data engineering technologies, a passion for problem solving as well as for identifying gaps to address client needs.

We'll Trust You To:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and processes that interact with our corporate action database
  • Apply technologies to tackle problems and optimize current processes in areas such as data quality, data acquisition, operations, reliability, and content alongside domain experts and technical account managers
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of external partners and internal departments including Engineering, Product and Sales on strategic product development and execution
  • Use statistics and data visualization to generate insights about ongoing operations and projects and communicate the results effectively
  • Incorporate machine learning and statistics to detect anomalies and drive quality improvement in areas such as accuracy, completeness, consistency and reliability
  • Communicate with impact, ensuring sophisticated information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences including senior executives
  • Maintain detailed documentation describing the purpose and technical specifications of services built by our team

You'll Need to Have:

  • Please note we use years of experience as a guide, but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
  • 3+ years of Python programming and scripting in a production environment*
  • 3+ years of experience working with databases either SQL or NoSQL*
  • Strong interest in problem solving particularly to modify and enhance processes and workflows in innovative ways
  • Understanding of Machine Learning, applied statistics and data analytics
  • Understanding and experience of large-scale, distributed systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly to modify and improve processes and workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical processes and solutions to business partners and management
  • High attention to detail and degree of shown decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a distributed team environment as well as influence others and lead change
  • Experience in mentoring and teaching data skills to others

We'd Love to See:

  • Knowledge of corporate bonds or the fixed income market generally.
  • Agile/Scrum Project Management experience
  • Experience using data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau or QlikSense.
