SALARY: £23,127 - £25,868 FTE / Actual Annual Salary £12,672 - £14,174 + Excellent Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid with a mixture of working onsite inCoventry, West Midlands (CV4) and from home

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, 24 Month Fixed Term Contract

WORKING HOURS: 20 hours per week (flexibility on days/times)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Junior Graphic Designerwho hasprevious experience of working in a design role and a good quality graphic design portfolio, with good knowledge of Adobe CC packages, in particular InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.

Working as the Junior Graphic Designer you will provide graphic design support for the Communications and Marketing team creating new and updating existing artwork for a variety of materials for print and online - posters, adverts, flyers, web and social banners.

As the Junior Graphic Designer, you will receive briefs, create design concepts and work within brand guidelines.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Junior Graphic Designer will include:

  • Provide graphic design support for the Communications and Marketing team using the Adobe CC packages - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Acrobat
  • Create new and update existing artwork for a variety of materials for print and online i.e. posters, adverts, flyers, web and social banners
  • Receive briefs from the Graphic Designer and colleagues in the C&M team
  • Create design concepts
  • Respond to feedback on drafts, making or challenging suggested changes
  • Work within brand guidelines of the organisation and its constituent services where appropriate
  • To manage workload in agreement with line manager
  • Assist the Business Development Manager with creating assets to support with media sales activity
  • Keep the Graphic Designer updated on progress with design tasks
  • Engage in your ongoing development by attending regular team meetings and 1-2-1s with your line manager
  • Maintain professional knowledge of design industry, and keep up to date with youth design trends
  • Undertake all administrative work in relation to the role as necessary
  • Commit to reducing the organisations environmental impact and promote environmental and ethical good practice

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Experience of working in a design role
  • A good quality graphic design portfolio
  • Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, or a similar professional qualification
  • Experienced in Adobe CC packages (in particular InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Acrobat)
  • Must be creative and flexible
  • Able to accept critical feedback or rejection of ideas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able to process and interpret information in a timely manner
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good administration and organisational skills
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team and use own initiative
  • Must be committed, positive and hardworking
  • Committed to the principles and practices of equality and diversity

Desirable

  • Experience of working in Higher Education or Student Union sector
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to all internal customers
  • Able to create animated graphics and/or illustrations
  • Photography and/or video skills
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of social media for marketing purposes
