Job Description

The successful candidate will be placed within the Controls team, responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of control processes centred on validating the completeness and integrity of Operations reconciliations. This includes performing account mapping, conducting balance validation exercises, and investigating any discrepancies through to resolution. The candidate will be responsible for detecting, investigating and resolving exceptions across all elements of the reporting process.
Support to immediate manager in assisting with development and training of the team and establishing the role as being point of contact for queries in absence of manager.
Assist with analysis of processes to provide overview of output to management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating / executing a control to validate the completeness and integrity of Operations reconciliations, including all system mapping related to the accounts, in accordance with prescribed standards
  • Weekly monitoring of reporting to ensure all accounts are correctly classified
  • Detect and investigate differences between the reporting systems and the general ledger. Analyse the root cause and ensure appropriate action is taken to remediate.
  • Ensure any unresolved issues are escalated in line with procedure escalation policy.
  • Liaising with Business partners to understand key risks and resolution plans where applicable
  • Ensure issue tracking is maintained around all issues, ready for any internal or external review
  • Maintain and where appropriate enhance existing procedures to incorporate any changes in the process that may be required after project reviews and to adopt Regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with production of monthly statistic's updating departmental decks.
  • Manage own time effectively, ensuring readiness at all times to provide updates on investigations, communicate known risks, and details of resolution plans.
  • Establish effective partnerships with colleagues in Operations, Controls, Finance and other stakeholder groups to share knowledge, promote best practice, and raise awareness of key controls.

Experience / Competencies:

  • Experience in financial services sector would be an advantage.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to recognize key issues / implications and escalate on a timely basis.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel is essential.
  • Understanding of basic project management disciplines, particularly processes mapping / documentation
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Self-motivated, with strong organisational skills
  • Able to consistently work to exacting standards of accuracy.
