Are you a Payroll Analyst looking for an exciting opportunity? Our client, a global leader in financial technology, is seeking a talented and experienced Payroll Analyst to join their team on a 9-month contract basis in Manchester. With the possibility of extension, this role offers a hybrid work model, allowing you to work from home for three days a week.

What you'll be doing:

  • Performing a variety of accounting functions in the preparation, distribution, and reporting of payroll, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Balancing bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll ledgers and addressing any exceptions.
  • Reconciling tax and unemployment liability accounts, investigating any variances.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly/quarterly payroll tax reporting and resolving any related issues.
  • Collaborating with technical departments to implement process improvements, test system changes, and lead special projects.
  • Acting as a liaison between employees, payroll associates, and technical teams to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Auditing employee pay records, reconciling totals by department, location, etc.
  • Interpreting pay policies, including vacation, leave of absence, disability, workers' compensation, and government regulations, to ensure correct calculations and deductions.
  • Documenting payroll processes and procedures and providing training when necessary.
  • Producing scheduled and ad hoc analyses and reports as needed.

What we're looking for:

  • Broad knowledge of payroll principles, practises, processes, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with UK laws and regulations related to payroll.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team, both in an office and remote environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
