Analytics Engineer (MS Fabric)

Location: Leeds

Salary: Up to £60,000 per year + 30 days Annual leave + 20% Pension + more benefits

Job Description Summary

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer who will be responsible for contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle of our client's Analytics Platform (Microsoft Fabric). The financial sector client is recruiting for this role to ensure the seamless provision of data for consumption within reporting & analytical data products via curated layers and reusable semantic models.

Core role accountabilities:

  • Design, Build, Support and Develop the data platform (Microsoft Fabric).
  • Experience working in a team, building & supporting data platforms with Microsoft technologies.
  • Technical skills with some of the following technologies - Data Factory, Data Activator, Synapse Data Engineering, Synapse Data Warehouse, Python, One Lake
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Good knowledge of data management principles, including data modelling, data integration, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data governance, and data security.
  • Experience building data platform components to support a business need.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders in a straightforward and understandable way.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage several workstreams simultaneously, balancing business priorities and quality.
  • Experience of working within an Agile working environment.
  • Ingest data with shortcuts, pipelines, or dataflows to support Power BI and AI analytical use cases.
  • Actively contribute to all stages of the data platform lifecycle as required (including design, development, testing & delivery phases) in line with our agreed architecture and design standards.
  • Optimise table design, data models and semantic models for onward data consumption by content creators across the organisation.
  • Ingest third party data using Microsoft Fabric capabilities and prepare third party data for both standalone and combined analysis with other data sets.
  • Ensure data platform delivers to non-functional requirements.
  • Performance optimisation and troubleshooting of data technologies.
  • Curate an unstructured data (documents, reports, lists etc.) ecosystem within Microsoft Fabric tools.
  • Champion Cloud Operations & DevOps principles, approaches, and best practices

  • An eagerness to learn and the ability to instil this in others.
  • Ability to work in a small team, within an evolving organisational environment including newly set processes and methods that may well change over time.
  • Technical qualifications with some of the following technologies - Data Factory, Data Activator, Synapse Data Engineering, Synapse Data Warehouse, Python, One Lake
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business processes associated with financial services organisations.
  • Experience providing technical support services.
  • Experience producing technical design and support documentation.

Desirable
