Brief Overview of the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Headteacher to join our team, bringing a comprehensive understanding of the national curriculum and the ability to teach across a range of year groups. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher who inspires pupils to become effective, independent learners. They will excel in planning lessons, implementing strategies to raise attainment, and monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and attainment data to identify trends and take appropriate action to raise standards.

With significant senior leadership and management experience, the ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of whole school issues and have a proven track record in planning for change, development, and improvement. They will be adept at conducting staff inductions, mentoring, and performance management, and will demonstrate collaborative working skills, particularly with other schools. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the candidate must be able to motivate, promote good relationships, and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.

Key attributes include the potential for creative and innovative leadership, effective time management and prioritization, and the ability to manage, organize, and motivate all staff with diplomacy, sensitivity, and good humour. The candidate must be able to listen, reflect, and communicate effectively, work well in a team, and display enthusiasm, energy, and commitment. Integrity, confidentiality, the ability to remain calm under pressure, adaptability to change, and resilience in challenging situations are also crucial for this role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An Honours degree
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Evidence of further professional development and a willingness to undertake additional training
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A proven track record of successful senior leadership
  • Either possessing an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service or being willing to obtain one.
  • Understanding of and experience with Safeguarding practices.
