We are seeking a Deputy Matron to join the Health and Wellbeing team at a historic institution dedicated to providing exceptional care to Army veterans. The Deputy Matron will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care services.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the Registered Manager in the daily operations of the Registered Wards, maintaining high standards of care.
- Act as a deputy during the Registered Manager's absence.
- Oversee Domiciliary Care activities across the site, ensuring safe and timely delivery of care.
- Collaborate with the Medical Centre and Therapies Team for effective clinical case management.
- Develop rapport and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Assist ward managers in maintaining safe staffing levels and managing personnel resources.
- Ensure services comply with legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor sick absence and manage occupational health referrals in line with policies.
- Undertake care assessments and support recruitment and development of new staff.
- Manage performance, training, and staff development, including NMC revalidation support.
- Update policies and procedures and keep the Registered Manager informed of ward activities.
- Participate in training delivery and the on-call Duty Matron rota.
- Liaise with external professionals, individuals, and families for regular needs reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Supervisory and team-leading skills with effective communication abilities.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of performance management.
- Thorough understanding of elderly care and the impact of quality nursing on lives.
- Knowledge of CQC policies and procedures.
- Comply with NMC competencies and standards.
- Registered Nurse with a current PIN number with NMC.
- Experience in elderly care/geriatric nursing.
- Evidence of further learning and continuing professional development in health and social care.
