Head of Finance

Robert Half have partnered with a healthcare organisation based in Bath to recruit an interim head of finance to join them immediately.

Duration: Approximately 6 months (Whilst they recruit permanently)

Start date: ASAP

Day rate: Competitive

Hybrid working: 3 days in Bath office and 2 remote

Reporting into a company director, you will obtain responsibility for:

  • Team management, finance team of 12.
  • Develop the financial framework for setting short and long-term business plans, including annual budget setting.
  • Manage capital expenditure strategy and budget priorities, maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic planning of projects, preparing detailed costings and business cases, and ensuring prioritisation and approval at appropriate committees.
  • Collaborate on the annual budget setting process, identifying and delivering savings and efficiency targets, and maintaining progress against the business plan.
  • Maintain and review finance policies to ensure financial controls and governance.
  • Oversee Treasury Management, ensuring accurate and timely transnational postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Lead the annual external audit process, ensuring timely submission of requests and samples to auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory accounting standards and produce the Annual Report for external audit and Companies House filing.
  • Oversee short-term cash flow and working capital forecasting, identifying treasury management risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly Management Accounts and financial performance reports for the Senior Management Team.
  • Engage with employees and other stakeholders, providing leadership support and acting as the key contact for finance queries.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified: ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Extensive, relevant experience in a senior finance role, including management of a finance team
  • Experience working in healthcare with knowledge of NHS financial frameworks
  • Proficiency in analysing complex financial information and effectively communicating analysis and options for decision-making
