Junior Bid Writer - Role Profile

  • As a Junior Bid Writer, you can be writing for a living while being central to the continued growth of an exciting, ambitious nationwide business.
  • Your biggest attribute will be your ability to tell a story. Our technical teams know their solutions like the back of their hand and our award-winning leaders are passionate about the story of our business. But only you will have the way with words needed to pull it all together, showing the buyer that we are the IT experts that they can build a partnership with to take their technology to the next level.
  • My client has had significant success with bid wins since recruiting our first dedicated Bid Writer in the summer of 2023. In that time, successful bids have contributed £750k of annual revenue to the business - you would be joining a team that knows its market and knows how to write a winning bid. This company is therefore the perfect place to gain invaluable skills and experience without having to wait to see the impact of your efforts.
  • With a second great writer onboard, we are ready to produce more bids, extend our reach to more sectors and get even more of that winning feeling.

Junior Bid Writer - Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

  • First and foremost, writing great bid responses! However, no great Bid Writer just sits down and starts writing. We will provide full training and close support so that all of these elements will go into you work:
  • Monitor key portals for new opportunities, gathering relevant information to underpin Go/No-Go evaluations which make sure we bid on the right opportunities.
  • Study tender documents and research the buyer to pull out clear win-themes - the key themes and messages they need to love about our proposal to give us the best chance of success.
  • Help maintain a well-organised folder of active and historical bid materials, including a tracker of active bids to ensure that deadlines are not missed.
  • Establish all the work that needs doing before submission, both by the Bids team and by our technical, project management and procurement experts.
  • Work with managers to plan our proposal.
  • Start writing! You will craft careful narratives of varying lengths and structures, each of which will need its own tone, its own focus and the same concise delivery.
  • While concision is key - bid responses can be asked to cover a lot - we know that nobody wants to read an endless wall of soulless text. Customers work with real-life, friendly people and our bids embrace this; you will have the freedom to put your own creative spin on our proposals and we will support you to do so.
  • Seeking feedback - after every bid, win or lose, we will look for feedback from the buyer to work out what went well or where we missed out.

Junior Bid Writer - Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent and confident written skills, with the ability to seamlessly adapt tone and style.
  • Organised and able to work to strict deadlines.
  • Able to work independently on large-scale written tasks.
  • Resilient - you can't win them all! It's all about how we learn and bounce back.
  • Committed to delivering work to external, fixed deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Strategic, analytical thinker - you will quickly gain an understanding of the market and will play a leading role in defining our proposals.

Junior Bid Writer - Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum an A-Level in English
  • Team-oriented and results-focused.
  • Strong command of the English language and exceptional written communication skills.
