Interim Head of Technology

Salary: £90,000 to £95,000 per annum Location: Based at our office in Harlow, Essex. About the role

This is a 6-month contract to manage the technical aspects of the IT team. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure the day-to-day aspects of supporting the foundations technology are handled effectively. To manage and report on the performance of technology support.

What you will be doing:

IT Network and Systems

  • Oversee and direct the development of infrastructure of IT applications, networks, security and telecoms.
  • Responsible for the development and on-going testing of the IT business continuity plan.
  • Responsible for the IT aspects of the overall Motability business continuity strategy.
  • Oversee and direct the procurement of IT hardware, software and maintenance.
  • Oversee all data exchange procedures with Scheme Partners and Government Agencies.
  • Responsible for the management of hardware and software updates.

IT Projects

  • Ensure IT resources are effectively allocated to tasks associated with essential change activity.
  • Track and report on challenges to the delivery of essential change activities with IT.

Customer Service

  • Work with senior management and suppliers to propose, agree and deliver IT support services with defined service levels.
  • Regularly conduct satisfaction surveys and address any identified issues.

Team Leadership

Working closely with the IT People Manager to:

  • Develop and motivate the IT team.
  • Define and monitor performance against agreed service level targets.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees;.

Financial/Management Reporting

  • Raise and approve regular and ad-hoc IT purchase orders.
  • Provide regular/ad-hoc reports to senior managers.

About you:

Must haves:

  • Significant IT experience which includes a strong knowledge of desktop applications (Microsoft technologies) and Networking (Lan/Wan Cisco technologies).
  • Experience in IT infrastructure planning and development and managing capital projects and budgets in excess of £500k.
  • Possesses good knowledge of different software systems, client/service architectures and various compatibility requirements.
  • Experience of managing suppliers and supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of current trends within the e-Business marketplace from a supplier and customer's perspective.
  • Maintain a broad and long-term perspective of IT developments to influence forward planning.
  • Demonstrable maintains organisational effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
  • Experience in developing IT strategies in conjunction with management teams.

Nice to haves:

  • IT degree level (IT) or equivalent
  • MCSE/MCP certification
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies.
  • Experience of BCP/DR planning, implementation and testing.
  • Experience of Cloud Computing/SaaS
  • GDPR awareness.
  • Sound knowledge of Web Technologies.
