We are seeking an Energy and Decarbonisation Specialist to lead our efforts in delivering energy-efficient and decarbonisation-focused business practices. This role is crucial in ensuring we meet our strategic goals and targets regarding decarbonisation, science-based targets (SBT), and energy management. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in improving energy efficiency and developing initiatives to achieve our net-zero ambitions.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate with the Energy and Environment Lead to achieve the decarbonisation and energy use reduction goals outlined in Our Responsible Plan.
  • Manage the science-based target initiative (SBTi) process, ensuring verification and achievement of set targets.
  • Establish robust carbon footprint reporting for the client and manage annual reporting.
  • Develop and communicate a zero-carbon roadmap, creating action plans for carbon reporting and reduction initiatives.
  • Implement scope 3 supplier engagement strategy and integrate decarbonisation into procurement processes.
  • Oversee utilities contracts, manage invoice validation, and meet trajectories for energy consumption reduction.
  • Develop and submit annual energy and decarbonisation costed proposals for the business planning process.
  • Provide expert advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy opportunities, and decarbonisation strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of carbon footprinting, emissions factors, and carbon management processes including SBT and ISO 14064.
  • Proficiency in Excel and understanding of energy, decarbonisation, and climate change legislation.
  • Leadership skills, self-motivation, and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrable expertise in carbon use, energy, and water impact management and analysis.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Relevant building services experience with the ability to implement energy reduction measures.
  • Experience in strategy and business plan development, managing programmes, projects, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and report writing skills.

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree in environmental science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Membership in the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or an equivalent environmental professional body.
