£13.16 - £15.16 per hour + holiday pay (depending on location)

Week on week for around 3-6 months

Working from home 3-4 days a week with 1-2 days in the Sidcup office (occasional travel to Stratford as needed)

Our client is looking for an early intervention officer to join their fun and fast paced team! The aim of this role is to deliver the comprehensive management of the debt recovery service from early intervention up to legal progression to support the Debt Recovery Officers in taking legal action. Doing so through adopting a logical, problem solving and proactive approach, demonstrating self-reliance, resilience, confidence, and initiative.

Key Duties -

  • Managing and prioritising which accounts require focus in your own portfolio of accounts in early arrears (up to and including 6 periods in arrears), ensuring within your customers there is a reduction of arrears, cash collection performance is maximised, and bad debt minimised, using all available communication methods and escalation through the legal governance where required.
  • To confidently deliver and make reasoned decisions in relation to effective portfolio management, balancing the need for a high pace of delivery with appropriate level of quality.
  • Independently working to provide the effective account resolution of early to mid-level arrears in a timely manner and to a clearly defined standard.
  • Advising residents of the implications of not resolving arrears and the legal action that could be taken in the event that arrears escalate to a legal stage.
  • Proactively contacting residents with new tenancies in the first 4 weeks to ensure accounts are correctly set up and expectations for the management of their accounts are set.
  • Proactively seek to recoup any service charge deficits and ground rent when applied to accounts.
  • Being able confidently make reasoned decisions in relation to effective early arrears portfolio management, balancing the need for a high pace of delivery with appropriate level of quality and progressing cases through the legal process.
  • Undertaking a range of administrative duties and business processes as required to fulfil the duties of the role.
  • Investigation and support the resident in the completions of discretionary housing payment claims.
  • Issue a range of arrears communications from early arrears notifications and broken payment plans.
  • Issue Notice of Seeking Possession to recover debt as appropriate in line with policy and expected timings including the early management of legal cases.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and communication contacts with each resident on the collection's platform.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to make an assessment of debt profile in order to prioritise which customers require contact.
  • IT literate and able to quickly acquire knowledge of web-based applications.
