The Fire and Rescue Service in Nottinghamshire has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Estates Project Manager to join their busy Estates Team.

  • Grade 8: £48,474 - £52,530 per annum
  • 37 hours (Monday - Friday)
  • Permanent position

As the Estates Project Manager, you (the successful candidate) will hold a key role within the Estates Department, leading on the delivery of capital major works projects and also contributing to the delivery and management of minor and lifecycle works as required. You will be expected to deliver high quality outcomes and will have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders including technical and property management professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

The Estates Project Manager will:

  • Take the lead in the delivery of an efficient and value for money Estates Capital Works Programme in accordance with the service's strategic aims and objectives
  • Be professional and organised in the management and delivery of projects - being responsible for all aspects of project delivery from concept to handover
  • Prepare business cases, provide regular governance updates, identify and share risk information, allocating risk owners and ensuring timely implementation of risk management actions
  • Effectively manage delegated budgets - delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Provide expert and professional advice to the Estates Department and wider organisation to ensure all works projects are compliant with legal standards and that they are also of an acceptable quality, reliable, safe and efficient
  • Work with the Procurement Team to prepare scoping, technical specification and tender documents for procurement of services
  • Plan and work with all relevant internal stakeholders, contractors and consultants and other parties as necessary to ensure that projects are delivered in an efficient and effective manner, taking account of the effect of change and delivered in a manner that does not compromise to day to day operations - in particular front line services
  • Be responsible for assurance of works including timely and effective completion of any necessary defect remedial works - aiming for a defect free handover
  • On completion of works, reviewing and authorising applications for payment and contractor invoices
  • Review projects to identify trends and opportunities and capture and take forward project lessons learned.
  • Contribute to the project management and delivery of Estates minor and lifecycle works projects as directed.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Building surveying, construction and / or capital project management qualification and experience
  • Strong working knowledge, competence and experience in the management of risk including H&S & CDM, compliance with / and applicable legislation and standards
  • Ability to engage with and manage consultants and contractors in relation to successful delivery of projects
  • Experienced in managing budgets and providing key financial information to facilitate effective reporting and financial management
  • Capable of working in a high paced environment and being dynamic in your day to day operations
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills
