Job Description: Technical and Compliance Manager (Residential Conveyancing Solicitor)
Location: Gloucester (Hybrid working offered, 3 days office, 2 WFH)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Overview:
TSR Legal are pleased to be working with a well-established Conveyancing Law firm who are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join their team as a Technical and Compliance Manager. This role is pivotal in overseeing and managing the technical legal advice program for the firm, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in residential conveyancing. You will provide guidance, support, and supervision to our transactional teams, driving excellence in legal service delivery and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the technical legal advice program for the firm, ensuring high-quality and compliant legal services in residential conveyancing.
- Provide guidance, support, and supervision to legal teams across all transactional matters.
- Ensure compliance with trade body standards and SRA regulations; develop and implement policies to mitigate risks and identify areas of non-compliance.
- Lead the enhancement of quality control systems and implement a robust peer-to-peer review process.
- Develop the technical competencies of staff through coaching, training, and development initiatives.
- Lead and manage a team of qualified and qualifying lawyers, supporting their career progression and professional development.
- Attend trade seminars and events to enhance the firm's profile as a leading technical expert in residential conveyancing.
- Collaborate with the internal IT team to optimise and develop our case management system (Novex) to support sale and purchase work.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years' experience managing a complex caseload of residential conveyancing matters.
- Strong knowledge and experience in residential conveyancing including sale, purchase, and remortgage matters.
- Expertise in leasehold and lease extension work, equity release (advantageous), bridging transactions (advantageous), SDLT requirements, and dealing with unregistered properties.
- Proven track record in team management with the ability to develop, coach, and mentor team members.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Solicitor (essential) with no conditions on practicing certificate.
- Management qualifications are desirable but not essential.
