Supplier Quality Manager

A fantastic opportunity to become a key leader within the MBDA Supply Chain Quality team. Driving continuous improvement, process control and Quality assurance techniques across a variety of defence projects.

Job Title: Supply Chain Quality Manager

Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience

Location: Bolton or Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Average 1 day per week on-site at MBDA. Other days either at supplier or remote working. Short term, onsite working will generally exceed 1 day per week. This is in order to support knowledge transfer and skill sustainment activity linked to planned retirement of current employee within the team.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

  • Senior team member within the growing Supply Chain Quality Team at MBDA (Deputy to Head of Quality Assurance – Supply Chain UK)
  • Ensuring that the team has the skills and capabilities needed to provide sufficient supply chain Quality Assurance to our internal customers
  • Proactive and driven mind set with Quality Management and Quality Assurance experience
  • Key point of contact relating to MBDA supply chain Quality Assurance activities
  • Opportunity to support wider team objectives and implementation of transversal projects across MBDA NatCo
  • Key interface for Supply chain Quality activity across allocated suppliers and projects

What we're looking for from you:

Leadership

  • Leadership experience involving the improvement of product & processes throughout the area of responsibility
  • Ability to provide technical product and process support to the wider supply chain Quality team
  • Strong communication skills in line with MBDA values
  • Strong Project Management Experience from a Quality perspective
  • Supports cross training of other quality team members
  • Proactive and driven work ethic with a passion for Quality and continuous improvement

Strategy

  • Supports the Head of Quality Assurance – Supply Chain in the deployment of short, medium and long term objectives with respect to Quality targets and milestones
  • Ability to implement wider team objectives and support transversal projects across MBDA NatCo
  • Drives the deployed leading indicators within the function and supports other functions as appropriate

Quality & Supply Chain

  • Primary Quality Authority for supply chain activities
  • Experienced in the identification of Quality risks, critical issues and mitigation solutions to assure achievement of supplier Quality performance
  • Ability to work with suppliers to develop robust process in line with the defined quality tools and techniques
  • Assuring compliance to process requirements and contractual standards.
  • Candidates do not need to have a Defence background. We welcome applicants from the Automotive, Aviation, Manufacturing sectors
  • Remain calm under pressure and cope well with unexpected changes
  • Practitioner of current QA problem solving methods
  • Qualified to lead audits to the AS9100 standard and facilitate corrective action management
  • Implementation of APQP tools to new development and to mass production products (Process Mapping, FMEA, Control Planning, MSA)

Management Systems

  • An experienced Quality professional with experience in implementing Quality systems including development and production practices
  • Experienced in Supply Chain Quality Management and performance techniques
  • Support the adherence, maintenance and improvement of quality processes
  • Management of supplier Quality dashboards, KPI's and data analysis to drive continuous improvement
