The Role:

As a key member of their Competition practice, you will:

  • Lead and manage complex, multi-jurisdictional cases, coordinating with their global offices and external counsel to ensure exceptional outcomes for clients.
  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to the growth of their practice.
  • Engage in thought leadership through publications, seminars, and client events, enhancing their practice's visibility and reputation.
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and trainees, fostering their professional development and ensuring the highest standards of work.
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams across HFW, supporting cross-selling initiatives and delivering comprehensive legal solutions.

The Candidate:

  • A qualified lawyer in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction, or someone willing to relocate and qualify in the UK within a reasonable timeframe.
  • A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience in competition law, gained from a leading law firm or a competition authority.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU and UK competition law, with an understanding of other key jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex, multi-jurisdictional cases and projects, with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • A proactive approach to business development and client relationship management, with the ability to generate new business and cross-sell services.
  • A team player with leadership potential and a clear ambition to progress to partnership.
  • Sector-focused experience, particularly within the maritime, commodities, aviation, and insurance sectors, or other relevant industries.
