Group Management Accountant

Our client is a well respected privately owned group of companies operating within the Construction Industry with their UK Group Head Office ideally situated in Staffordshire and therefore easily accessible from across both East & West Midlands (Hybrid working also offered)

As a result of Internal restructure, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Part Qualified, Qualified or QBE Accountant to join the group Finance Team.
This position is to be recruited on a full time, permanent basis and is being recruited with the focus of supporting the Group Financial Controller with the below duties whilst also leading a small finance team.

  • Lead, Mentor and develop a small finance team
  • Provide additional ad hoc support to the Group Financial Controller and Ledger Supervisor to cover periods of holiday or absence.
  • Driving new ways of working, continually improve the ledger function's processes and procedures
  • Acting as key contact during the year end audit, completing evidence requests and undertaking relevant process walkthroughs.
  • Responsible for verifying accuracy of VAT treatment, including subcontractor certificates, prior to being posted.
  • Provide clear instructions and ensure timely completions of postings by Ledger team.
  • Ensure HMRC compliance, and that returns & payments are complete and paid to correct time scales
  • Preparation of CIS reconciliation, returns & payments
  • Ongoing monitoring of Group Cash position to ensure compliance with Group Treasury policies.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant Commercial colleagues and Finance Business Partners to ensure Group and individual subsidiary headroom's are maintained.
  • Coordination and production of balance sheet rec for Cashbook, VAT, CIS accounts
  • Liaison with Commercial teams to oversee House Sale statements and alignment with sales ledger
  • Responsible for managing the cashbook
  • Undertake bank reconciliations, actively exploring ways to streamline this process.
  • Tracking and communicating to correct people Housing Association retention monies
  • Other ad hoc tasks as reasonably required.

This position is equally suited to Part Qualified, Qualified and QBE Accountants alike with the focusing being on experience and cultural fit more than qualification.
Experience gained with the Construction and House Building sector is desirable as key to this role is the management of CIS and VAT for the Group.
Wider experience demonstrated around timely management of companies cash, banking and forecasting is also desirable.
