About Us:

Reed are working with an inclusive and supportive SEMH Academy in Taunton, where they are committed to providing exceptional support and education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for a passionate and skilled SEMH Teaching Assistant to join us on a temporary to permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Academic and Pastoral Support: Provide tailored academic and pastoral support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achievement.
  • Resource Development: Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and develop resources that enable students to fully engage in activities and make good progress.
  • Behaviour Management: Work as part of a team to respond to challenging behaviour, using holistic behaviour management techniques.
  • Student Guidance: Offer information, advice, and structured support to help students make positive choices about their behaviour, attendance, and social interactions.
  • Family Engagement: Develop strong links between the school and families to improve educational opportunities and promote a positive attitude towards school.
  • Safeguarding: Comply with confidentiality and safeguarding procedures to ensure the welfare of all students.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Contribute to the monitoring, recording, and analysis of students' welfare and daily experiences.
  • Positive Role Model: Model high standards and participate positively in a culture of sharing good practice among staff.
  • Rewards System: Contribute to the whole school rewards system to encourage positive behaviour and achievements.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
