This organisation is a leading Structural Steel business and are looking for a Senior Commercial Estimator.Theyspecialise in structural steelwork and installation are committed to excellence in everything they do for their customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurate Estimations: Produce precise and comprehensive estimates for various projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Client Documentation & Compliance: Thoroughly understand client enquiry documentation, bills of quantities, and tender requirements to ensure compliance in bid submissions.
  • Structural Steelwork Expertise: Leverage your strong understanding of structural steelwork materials to produce accurate measurements/take-offs. Identify risks, potential value engineering opportunities, and necessary inclusions/exclusions.
  • Supply Chain Engagement: Issue accurate enquiries to the supply chain and secure competitive sub-contract quotations for various tender elements.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain a robust understanding of current market rates to support accurate pricing strategies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Capably read and interpret structural engineers' and architects' general arrangement drawings, design reports, and specifications.
  • Quotation Documentation: Generate detailed and accurate quotation documents using the standard company template for bid qualification.
  • Client & Project Communication: Attend pre- and post-tender meetings with clients, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout all project stages.
  • Variation Management: Work closely with clients and contracts managers to effectively manage project variations.
  • Contract Documentation Knowledge: Ideally, possess a good understanding of contract documentation, warranties, and JCT contracts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Estimator, preferably within the structural steelwork sector.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steelwork materials and estimation practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with contract documentation and legal requirements is advantageous.
