A new Special Educational Needs school in East Leeds is seeking a compassionate, patient, and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This all through school is dedicated to providing quality education and support to students with complex needs in a purpose-built environment and wants an SEN Teaching Assistant who is able to deliver that.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support and understanding for students with ASD.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour.
- Support students with a range of needs from PMLD to those who are high functioning.
- Provide personal care and be prepared for manual handling of pupils.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student's development.
- Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with students with ASD in the UK.
- Strong understanding of de-escalation and calming techniques.
- A proactive and caring attitude.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
