IT Technician Apprentice

Key Duties:

  • Assist with the maintenance of the wired and wireless ICT networks across the school site.
  • To provision ICT equipment and services on site for curriculum, teaching and learning, administrative and community users.
  • To manage the warranty and repair of ICT systems.
  • Regularly check the helpdesk throughout the day, actively taking on jobs and using it as one of the tools to manage your workload.
  • Deploy operating systems and software in accordance with the approved software/licencing list.
  • Assist with the management of the VOIP system, e.g. PIN resets, name changes, telephone moves etc.
  • Assist with the technical management of the school's Management Information System and Virtual Learning Environment (e.g. that they are installed and accessible to the relevant members of staff.)
  • Provide technical support for ICT applications and equipment.
  • Ensure that all tickets in your helpdesk queue have an up-to-date status, closing tickets once resolved.

Personal Qualities:

  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Show some knowledge of non windows environments
  • Experience of learning platforms
  • Experience of using and preparing audio/visual equipment
  • Awareness of the latest developments and innovations in ICT

Essential:

  • Experience of Microsoft operating systems and Office packages
  • Experience of installing and maintaining PC hardware and software

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
