Admin Assistant

Are you a detail-oriented individual with excellent administrative and communication skills? Do you have a passion for supporting important processes within the police industry? Our client, a prestigious police organisation, is seeking a Firearms Licencing Administrative Assistant to join their team in Penrith.

What you'll be doing:

Providing comprehensive administrative support services under the guidance of the Firearms Licencing Team Leader.
Ensuring efficient working in the Firearms Licencing Unit to deliver services to the constabulary and firearms licencing applicants.
Acting as an initial point of contact for all applications, emails, and telephone calls.
Maintaining accurate records, both paper-based and electronic, in compliance with GDPR.
Receipting fees received for firearms licencing applications and liaising with relevant departments.
Timely receipting of all applications, including certificate grant and renewal applications, while adhering to GDPR guidelines.
Preparing letters to applicants who haven't complied with the application requirements to ensure issue resolution.
Cancelling certificate records and scanning documents, maintaining accurate firearms inventory.
Processing changes of address and updating records, coordinating with relevant officers for security inspections and certificate re-issuance.
Sending records of certificate holders to other police forces if there is a change of address.

What you'll bring:

Conversant with legislation, Home Office, and NPCC FELWG guidance related to firearms licencing.
Previous administrative and clerical experience.
Competent keyboard and ICT skills.
Good interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with the public.
Demonstrated high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work to targets and deadlines.

Desirable qualifications:

Knowledge of firearms and their uses.
Familiarity with data protection legislation.
Experience with computer databases.
