Join our team as a Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery, where you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students engaged in Carpentry and Joinery courses. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in the industry and a passion for education, ready to contribute to the development and success of our students.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver excellent quality teaching and learning to a range of students in Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Embed employability and employer engagement activities into the programmes.
  • Support community and personal enrichment activities, including educational trips.
  • Prepare comprehensive schemes of learning, lesson plans, and assignment schedules.
  • Actively promote and ensure compliance with college policies on safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety.
  • Provide timely marking of students' work with constructive developmental feedback.
  • Report on student progress and participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Engage in the recruitment of students and the admissions process.
  • Represent the college at both internal and external events and meetings.
  • Participate in the college's quality assurance processes and internal verification.
  • Maintain and update professional knowledge and skills through continual professional development (CPD).
  • Liaise effectively with parents/guardians.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ level 2 or Craft certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Proficiency in Maths and English at Level 2, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Expertise in 1st fix, 2nd fix, and cut roof/trusses.
  • Strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Availability to attend college events, including during evenings and outside normal working hours.
