Join our team as a Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery, where you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students engaged in Carpentry and Joinery courses. Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver excellent quality teaching and learning to a range of students in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Embed employability and employer engagement activities into the programmes.
- Support community and personal enrichment activities, including educational trips.
- Prepare comprehensive schemes of learning, lesson plans, and assignment schedules.
- Actively promote and ensure compliance with college policies on safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety.
- Provide timely marking of students' work with constructive developmental feedback.
- Report on student progress and participate in curriculum development activities.
- Engage in the recruitment of students and the admissions process.
- Represent the college at both internal and external events and meetings.
- Participate in the college's quality assurance processes and internal verification.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and skills through continual professional development (CPD).
- Liaise effectively with parents/guardians.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ level 2 or Craft certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery.
- Proficiency in Maths and English at Level 2, or willingness to work towards this.
- Expertise in 1st fix, 2nd fix, and cut roof/trusses.
- Strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices in Carpentry and Joinery.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Availability to attend college events, including during evenings and outside normal working hours.
