And right now, we're looking for a HSE Advisor. Based at our Capenhurst site location you'll provide a range of basic advice and support in the subject areas covered by the HSE department as required and contribute to the safe and compliant conduct of operations under Group Projects by doing so.

What will your day look like?

  • Providing pragmatic and useful advice, guidance and support to the Project Portfolio in one or more of the following areas of expertise:

-Health and Safety, including fire safety
-Health and Wellbeing
-High Hazard Safety Management
-Radiation Safety
-Environmental Protection
-Quality Management Systems and Quality Assurance
-Organisational Learning and Continual Improvement
-Resilience, Business Continuity and Emergency Planning

  • Developing and implementing company processes to ensure company compliance with legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and advising on the practical application within the business.
  • Providing support to the business in the identification, generation and implementation of learning opportunities and subsequent improvements
  • Delivers a range of generic HSE activities as required by departmental management, including leading and contributing to investigations, audits and inspections, continual improvement, training etc.
  • Provide positive influence across Group Projects in terms of HSE standards and behaviours.

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or a commitment to work towards)
  • NEBOSH diploma (or commitment to work towards).
  • Recognised internal (or higher) auditor training (or a commitment to work towards)
  • Depending on the departmental competence requirements, it may be necessary for the post holder to hold or gain additional qualifications. To be managed outside of Job Descriptions.
  • Previous, proven experience of providing HSSE-type advice in an industrial environment.
  • Experience of working with and/or developing Integrated Management Systems
  • Experience of working within nuclear, COMAH or other high-hazard industries
  • Experience of leading or participating in audits and/or investigation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and programme own work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including good interpersonal skills necessary to work in a team environment and to liaise with all levels of the organisation to explain reasons for decisions made and to gain buy in from others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Visio, Atlantic Link and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of site-relevant legislation (e.g. Ionising Radiations Regulations, Nuclear Installations Act etc)
